UP Budget 2022-2023: A budget of 6 lakh crores was presented in the UP Vidhan Sabha. Here’s everything you need to know

Keeping in mind the ongoing inflation, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna Stated his grounds for making  PM Narendra Modi’s target of hitting a five trillion economy. He said that the state’s contribution is vital in fulfilling the target of the Prime Minister, so the target has been taken up to strengthen the economy of the state and make above 1 trillion this time.

The Budget:-

On Thursday (May 26), the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath presented the first budget of its second term in the State Assembly. It is the largest budget for the UP government to date, with a total outlay of ₹6.15 lakh crores. ‘Vision for 5 years,’ says CM Yogi after presenting the budget. This is a tremendous task for the UP government to keep up with Prime Minister’s words. Here’s the plan which the government proposed.

Green energy program – Kusum Yojna:-

While delivering the first part of the budget, CM Yogi Adidtyanath announced the government’s plan to provide free solar panels under Kusum yojna. “In this budget, we made provision for giving more than 15,000 solar panels this financial year,” said Yogi. A green energy corridor will be built in Bundelkhand, says the finance minister.

Budget for employment generation for the years 2022-2023:-

Under the Chief Minister’s Village Industries Employment Scheme, in the year 2022-2023, a target has been set to employ 16000 people by establishing 800 units in the village sector. Meanwhile, to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in various fields among the youth, a new UP Startup Policy-2022 target has been set to establish a total of 100 incubators and 10,000 startups in the next coming 5 years. 

Budget’s emphasis on the infrastructure development:-

The finance minister conveyed UP assembly that the govt is actively promoting a rapid infrastructure growth by ensuring the development of world-class infrastructure and seamless connectivity via expressways, waterways, airports, and other multi-modal projects such as the ambitious project of making UP the first state with 5 international airports and 5 expressways.

Uttar Pradesh is set to become the first state in the country to be comprised of 5 expressways. With the existing international airports at Lucknow and Varanasi. A new international airport at Kushinagar as well as the Noida Green Field is now the project in hand. International Airports at Jewar and Maryada Purushottamand Shriram International Airport in Ayodhya are also under the government’s radar.

Gram Unati yojna:-

In an effort to urbanize the villages of UP, a scheme called Gram Unati yojna has been proposed which aims to install solar-powered street lights on the roads of villages, while a separate green energy corridor will be built in Bundelkhand.

Emphasis on Education:-

While being the primary right of every citizen, education has been a let-back for many years. To tackle this, a budget of ₹100.45 crores has been set aside for Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow. While a sum of ₹2,100 crore is proposed for all the medical colleges in the state.

Special forces and defense budget:-

A sum of ₹276.66 crores is proposed for Uttar Pradesh special forces, who are entrusted with the task of looking after the security of courts and historical religious places, including temple towns Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura.


While the budget is very ambitious and confident, it’s set to improve the state’s economy a lot. With that, the state aims to get to 1 trillion in the economy within the next 5 years. With is proposed budget, we can say that the government is in the right direction.
